We would like you to meet our employee, Shawn Babu. Shawn is an Engineer in our Oklahoma City branch, and Shawn has worked for ES2 for two years.
Are you originally from Oklahoma?
I am from Mustang, OK.
Tell me what your experience working with ES2 has been like?
It's been great. I really appreciate my manager Corey. He's very patient and good at explaining a topic in multiple ways, as well as being knowledgeable in all kinds of subjects. Being early in my career, my professional work experience is limited, but speaking with my more experienced engineering coworker Todd, he agrees our department is strong thanks to Corey's leadership. Corey's the best manager we could ask for. Outside of Corey, literally, all the other people around the office are also very knowledgeable/experienced and easy to talk to. I think as a company, this is reflected outwardly when you consider our company's size and how we manage to land and carry out the types of jobs we do. As well as our ability to continue to maintain good relationships with the same customers after completion when it comes to service, repairs, troubleshooting, etc.
What certifications, training, or degrees do you have?
I have a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State University and training in ALC's WebCTRL Suite and Networking from ALC-certified instructor Corey Nickels.
Describe a typical day at work for you?
I boot my computer up, look it straight in the eyes and tell it we're gonna have a good day damnit, and get to plugging away at all the items in my queue. I'm kidding; I just sit in front of a computer working on projects all day with the exception of the very occasional job walk here and there.
What is your favorite aspect of your job?
All the different disciplines we touch on, whether it's mechanical systems, programming, or some plumbing, architectural, and IT aspects. It gave me a better big picture idea and understanding/respect when I look at any building. All these teams of people from all over work to plan it out years ahead of time and then more teams of people execute it. I also enjoy being able to make an impact in a variety of many people's lives with the wide scope of our work. We work on public schools, office complexes, casinos, hospitals, growhouses, and churches. That's a lot of different customers who have different needs.
Do you have any hobbies outside of work?
The only hobby I really have is playing guitar.
Are you a sports fan?
I don't watch sports, but I have to back OSU every time they play.
