Employee Feature: Blaine Phillips

Updated: Dec 7, 2022

We would like you to meet our employee, Blaine Phillips. Blaine is a TAB Technician in our Oklahoma City branch, and Blaine has worked for ES2 for three years.

Are you originally from Oklahoma?

I was born in Wichita, Kansas, but shortly after my birth, my parents decided to move back to Oklahoma to return to their roots. I grew up in Mustang and went through Mustang schools just like they did.

Tell me what your experience working with ES2 has been like?

My experience working with ES2 has been extremely unique. In previous jobs, I never felt a connection to my co-workers. Here, every employee is fully bought in and actively striving to create a superior product for our customers and a great working environment for all parties involved. I’m a very family-oriented person, and ES2 naturally produces that aura. I love the people here.

What certifications, training, or degrees do you have?

After graduating high school, I was unsure of what I wanted to do. I spent a couple of semesters in college before deciding I wanted to pursue something in the blue-collar world instead. I attended a vocational school and earned multiple certifications in automotive collision, and high-performance engine building. I am currently in the “candidacy stage” of becoming a Certified TAB Technician through NEBB. My official exam is scheduled in early December. Once I have completed that, I plan to pursue more certifications through them.

Describe a typical day at work for you?

It’s somewhat difficult to describe a typical workday in our field. One day we could be in a building that’s still under construction, and the next day we could be in a building that’s over 100 years old. I’ve worked in hospitals, schools, government buildings, military bases, restaurants, casinos, and more. Regardless of where we are that day, we are striving to fine-tune their air and hydronic systems through various proven methods of testing, adjusting, and balancing to produce an energy-efficient and comfortable building.

What is your favorite aspect of your job?

My favorite aspect of the job is seeing how far the systems have come from day one to the final day. The building no longer has hot or cold zones, room and building pressures are correct, and every piece of equipment is performing its job in an efficient manner.

Do you have any hobbies outside of work?

I have three little brothers. Blake, Brody, and Bryson. I love spending time with them regardless of what we are doing. We enjoy competing with each other in everything we do. Lots of basketball, baseball, and video games. Outside of that, I like fishing and tinkering on my car to take it to the drag strip or car shows.

Are you a sports fan? If so, what sports and who are your favorite teams?

I’m a huge sports fan. For as long as I can remember, I have been watching sports with my family. I support everything OU, Thunder basketball, and St. Louis Cardinal baseball.

Tell us about your family?

I’m not married, and I don’t have kids at the moment, but I’m very much looking forward to building a family in the future. I grew up in a big family, and I want to have one of my own someday.
